Sacked employee's wife elected corporator to NMC
Nagpur, May 30 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Premlata Gangadhar Bhivgade was elected to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) from Ward No. 36, a reserved ward, in a by-election held on Sunday.
Ms Bhivgade, incidentally, is the wife of Gangadhar Bhivgade who was serving as health inspector in the NMC but whose service, along with 160 others, was discontinued by the civic body.
The by-poll was necessiated following disqualification of Congress corporator Chetana Tank.
Ms Bhivgade defeated her neareset rival Radhika Vairaagade of the Congress by a margin of 532 votes, while NCP candidate Gangabari Kshirsagar came a distant third.
