Rupee touches new yearly high of Rs 46.28/30/USD
Mumbai, May 29: The Indian currency touched a new high of Rs 46.28/30 per US Dollar due to huge foreign fund outflow in the equity markets, a dealer in the Forex market said.
The crude oil prices above USD 72 per barrel in the global markets also maintained pressure on the rupee.
Rupee finally closed 28 paise weaker compared to the previous close of 46.09/10 per US Dollar on Monday.
Earlier in the morning, the Indian currency today opened stronger by 0.5 paise at 46.04/USD as compared to the last close of 46.09/10.
The Reserve Bank of India fixed the reference rate at 46.19 per US dollar.
The six-month forward premia ended lower at 0.48 per cent from the previous close of 0.63 per cent.
The one-year forward premia too, ended lower at 0.78 per cent from the previous close of 0.82 per cent.
The cross-currency closing rate for rupee against euro was 59.50(58.80), down by 70 paise from the previous close; for pound sterling it was 86.85(85.80) which is 95 paise down, and for Japanese Yen it was 41.30 (41.03) down 27 paise from the previous close.
