Rastogi, Darko, Monroe move into 2nd round of Dehradun ITF Futures
Dehradun, May 30 (UNI) Fourth seed and Delhi ITF winner Karan Rastogi did not have to sweat much to down qualifier Juan Langton of Samoa Island 6-1, 6-2 in the ITF Men's Futures tennis tournament at Shanti Tennis Academy here today.
Top seed Henry Adjei-Darko of Ghana also did not have to stress much to beat unseeded SB Narayanaswami of India 6-0, 6-2, while second seed Alexey Kedriouk of Kazakastan had to face stiff challenge from compatriot Dmitri Makeyev before scoring a 7-6(6), 7-6(5) win.
Meanwhile, third seed Nick Monroe, who lost to Rastogi at Delhi final, outclassed Tai-Wei Liu of Taipei 6-4, 6-1 and fifth seed Vishal Uppal of India edged out unseeded Maichael Leong of Solomon Islands 6-4, 6-4.
The only seeded player who lost today was seventh seed, India's Navdeep Singh beaten by unseeded compatriot Vivek Shokeen in three sets 6-2, 6-7, 6-3.
Other players to make it to the second round included sixth seed Sunil Kumar Sipaeya of India who beat compatriot Sandeep Choudhary 6-4, 7-6, eighth seed India's Vinod Sridhar who beat unseeded Mathew Taylor of Germany 6-4, 6-4, Tushar Liberhan of India, Yaoki Ashi (Japan), Vijay Paul (USA) and Sumit Prakash Gupta of India.
