'Rahul's dream to become PM linked with sick units' revivial'

Sultanpur, UP, May 30 (UNI) Congress MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi's dream of becoming the country's prime minister can be fulfilled only by reviving sick industrial units, Samajwadi Party general secretary and Uttar Pradesh Development Council (UPDC) chairman Amar Singh today said.

''Several industrial units started by former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and his brother Sanjay Gandhi are closing shop,'' Mr Singh claimed.

Mr Singh also claimed to have written to Ms Gandhi regarding sick industrial units in UP and received a positive response.

''For us, each and every district of UP is equally important.'' Mr Singh said the state government had kept Sultanpur district out of the purview of power rostering by according importance to it.

Castgating the UPA government at the centre on quota issue, he alleged the central government was taking an ambiguous stance on the burning issue.

''While, senior Congress ministers Kapil Sibal and Kamal Nath, apart from the Knowledge Commission constituted by the Congress-led government, oppose the reservation proposal, union HRD minister support quota,'' he noted.

The SP leader was here in connection with a personal engagement.
