Nikkei inches up at open as Tokyo Electron gains
Tokyo, May 30: The Nikkei average edged up 0.03 percent at the opening of trade on Tuesday as investors returned to recently battered shares such as Tokyo Electron Ltd., but gains were limited as Toyota Motor Corp. and other recent winners were hit by profit-taking.
The Nikkei was little changed from the previous session, down 1.14 points at 15,914.54 at 0005 GMT.
The broader TOPIX was up 1.75 points at 1,617.92.
Data released just before the start of trade showed that Japan's industrial production rose 1.5 percent in April from a month earlier, compared with a median market forecast of a 1.8 percent rise.
