NIIT to open 85 new centers at an investment of Rs 20 crore

New Delhi, May 30 (UNI) NIIT, Asia's largest IT training organisation, is planning to start 85 new centers globally, at an investment of Rs 20 crore.

NIIT CEO Vijay Thadani announced this while talking to reporters here today.

''We are planning to start 85 new centers with 60 centers in India, while the rest 25 will be in countries like Nigeria, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Bangladesh and Thailand.

We have been investing for the last six months and will continue to invest for the next 12 months, which will take the total investment to Rs 20 crore,'' Mr Thandani said.

NIIT also inked a new strategic agreement today with Sun Micorsystems India Pvt Ltd to provide specialised education and training for its students.

Through this alliance, NIIT will have access to the latest Sun technologies, tools, technical resources and curricula on the Java and Solaris platforms.

Sun will also enable NIIT to offer a range of customised programmes to a broad spectrum of students through NIIT's widespread network of IT education centres.

The initial launch will focus on the Sun Java platform while Solaris will be addressed later this year.

The company is also planning for a similar strategic alliance in China and are in intial talks with Sun Microsystems for this.

NIIT also expects to train around two lakh students in the next three-four years.
