NCP wins two civic body bypolls in Akola
Akola, May 30 (UNI) The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has won two civic by-elections here, polling for which were held on Sunday.
Mr Shivraj Mohod of NCP, supported by the Congress and BRP-BMS, won the by-polls to ward No 8 of the Akola Municipal Corporation by a margin of 168 votes against Mr D B Gawande who was supported by the BJP-SS alliance. The by-poll was necessitated following the resignation of Mr Shrirang Pinjarkar who has been debarred from contesting elections for three years by the Election Commission.
Mrs Rajnitai Bhaskar Muley of NCP was elected president of the Telhara Municipal Council.
