Major dams get good inflow due to early onset of monsoon in K'taka
Mysore, May 30 (UNI) The inflow into the three major reservoirs in Karnataka is steadily increasing, thanks to the onset of South-West Monsoon a week in advance in Karnataka and Kerala.
Irrigation department officials here said while there was drastic rise in the inflow into Kabini and Harangi reservoirs, the flow into Krishnarajasagar dam, across river Cauvery, which was away from the catchment area in Kodagu, was expected to increase in a couple of days.
In Kabini, where the inflow was just 204 cusecs on Friday, recorded 18,294 cuses this morning and the level had reached 2266.66 ft as against its the full level of 2284 ft. The discharge was maintained at 700 cusecs.
In Harangi, the inflow increased to 3,912 cusecs from 66 cusecs on Friday. The water level stood at 2818.76 ft as against the full level of 2,859 ft.

stood at 80.50 ft as against its full level of 124.8 ft. The inflow rose marginally to 1960 cusecs from 855 cusecs yesterday.
Meanwhile, heavy rain continued to pound Kodagu district, disrupting normal life. Rivers in Bhagamandala were at spate. In Talacauvery, where the river Cauvery originates, a rainfall of 50 cm was recorded during the last 48 hours, officials said.
Sowing operation had begun on a brisk note in Mysore and Chamrajanagar district due to favourable conditions for an early start to agricultural operations.
