Lucknow hospital given status of Medical Sciences Institute
Lucknow, May 30 (UNI) In a step towards specialised health services in Uttar Pradesh, the state government today decided to give Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here an independent status of Medical Sciences Institute.
A decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The hospital to be known as Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences had till now been functioning as satellite centre of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS).
A 13-member society headed by the chief secretary would be formed to govern it, an official spokesman told reporters here.
Now, the funds for the hospital would be released separately, he informed.
In another deciSion, UP also decided to transfer 100 acres of land to health department for setting up an allopathic medical college at Jalaun. The land belongs to ANother department.
