LG to take IT retailing to 100 Indian cities
New Delhi, May 30 (UNI) The LG CyberShoppes will reach a total of 100 Indian cities retailing desktop personal computers, LCD monitors and a host of other IT products, as part of its effort to ramp up its total IT hardward business to Rs 1200 crore in 2006, a senior company official said today.
''Through LG CyberShoppes, we will cover the B,C and D category cities where customers can come and take an informed buying decision'', General Manager (Sales and Marketing), LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd R Manikandan said here.
The CyberShoppes will be run by LG franchisees on exclusive basis while the company will run leveraged marketing drive to catch up in the fast growing 5.1 million pieces PC market in India. The company's IT division grossed in a business of Rs 900 crore in 2005.
LG has its IT manufacturing plant at Greater Noida, near Delhi for the IT products which has a capacity of 150,000 desktop PCs.
Launching its PC products in 2004, the company has captured a sizeable market share of 10 per cent with some aggressive marketing schemes. ''Beginning next month,we will be offering the desktop PCs with three years warranty against 12 months warranty from our competitors'', Mr Manikandan said.
LG is strong in home segment PCs but would be now penetrating into the small and medium businesses.
