JK Actt Comm issues notices over illegal sale of govt land
Srinagar, May 30 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Accountability Commission has issued show-cause notices to several senior officials for ''illegal'' sale of 288 kanals of government land near Shalimar Mughal Garden on the city outskirts.
The notices have been sent to an Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), five Tehsildars and other revenue officials on a complaint filed by the Peoples Welfare society (PSW).
The PSW said about 288 kanals of government land at Banigam, Shalimar was ''illegally'' sold by the officials to some ''influential people''.
Besides, it alleged that a revenue official, Ghulam Muhammad Dar, transferred about 12 kanals of grazing land in the name of his sons.
Some revenue officials illegally transferred about 72 kanals of Dharmarth land under section 4 and 8 of the Agrarian Reforms Act to big business tycoons of the Valley, the PSW alleged.
Similarly, the officials illegally transferred about 200 kanals of land to their relatives and influential people, it added.
Acting on the inquiry report of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Srinagar, the Accountability Commission registered a case and issued Show-cause notices to former Commissioner Revenue, ADC Srinagar, Assistant Commissioner Nazool, Tehsildar Srinagar, Tehsildar Kangan, Territorial Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar, Srinagar and other officials of the Revenue Department.
