Iran says told EU powers it ready for more talks
PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia, May 30 (Reuters) - Iran said today it had told Britain, Germany and France that it was ready to resume negotiations to try to resolve a standoff with the West over Tehran's nuclear programme.
''We express our readiness for resumption of negotiations with EU three in Tehran. Ambassadors of those countries have been informed about our position,'' Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki told reporters.
He was speaking in Malaysia after attending a meeting of non-aligned states, which issued a statement of support for Iran in its stand-off with the European Union and the United States and warned against any attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.
The United States and its Western allies believe Iran is trying to build a nuclear bomb, though Tehran insists its atomic programme is aimed solely at producing energy.
