Intl Institute of IT Law to be opened in B'lore on June 2

Bangalore, May 30: An International Institute of Information Technology Law (IIIT Law) will be opened in the city from June two to provide guidance for compliance of laws related to IT.

Briefing newspersons here, Former High Court Justice B K Somasekhara and Legal and Management Consultant Na Vidyashankar said with the growing importance of internet as a means of business and governance in addition to being a critical personal communication and information resource, it had become necessary to ensure that the Cyber Space remained a place that netizens could trust.

Karnataka Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph would formally launch the institute in the presence of Chief Minister H D Kumaaraswamy and Infosys Chief Mentor N R Narayanamurthy, he added.

Explaining the objectives of the Institute, they said an awareness would be created on IT-related legal issues, besides organising training programmes. Increasing incidents of cyber crimes was threatening to derail development of cyber society as a trusted medium of transaction, they noted.
