Haryana to hold talks with UP over Agra Canal

Chandigarh, May 30 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said talks would be held soon with the Uttar Pradesh government for providing water from the Agra Canal for the fields of Haryana.

Addressing a public meeting at Aurangabad village in Faridabad district, Mr Hooda said talks would be held with the UP government in case of failure of getting any water from this canal.

The Chief Minister assured the public that the state government would make all possible efforts for overcoming the inconvenience caused to the people in connection with the canal.

He said he would also take into consideration the base determined for paying to those farmers whose fields were not getting adequate water.

The Chief Minister said the command area of the Agra Canal was 1.43 lakh acres.
