Haryana grapplers retain free style, Greco Roman titles

Pune, May 30 (UNI) The gutsy grapplers from Haryana succeeded in retaining the titles in the free style and the Greco Roman style sections respectively in the 26th junior national wrestling championship which concluded at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports City Balewadi, near here, today.

Haryana captured two gold, two silver and two bronze medals taking the tally to 64 points to retain the overall team championship title in the Greco Roman event, while Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) were placed runners-up with a total of 55 points and DSAWA (Delhi) were placed third with 40 points.

In the free style event, Haryana mustered a tally of 53 points by claiming two gold, one silver and two broze. Nidani (Haryana) was placed second with an aggregate tally of 46 points, while Uttar Pradesh were placed third with a tally of 38 points.

Following are the results: Free Style (All Finals): 55 kg: Vinod Kumar (Har) 1, Mandeep Singh (Nidani) 2, Sumeet Kumar (MTNL), Rajnish Kumar (DSAWA) (Jt 3), 66 kg: Pankaj (UP) 1, Praveen Kumar (MTNL) 2, Vichitra Singh (Har) and Gurmer Singh (Jt 3).

84 kg: Naresh Kumar (Pnb) 1, Atul Patil (AP) 2, Manish Kumar (Nidani) and Deepak (UTC) (Jt 3).

120 kg: Joginder Kumar (DSAWA) 1, Dalbir Singh (Raj) 2, Vijay Pal (UP) and Praveen Kumar (NCR) (Jt 3).

Greco Roman style: 55 kg: Joginder Singh (Har) 1, Vikas (Raj) 2, Ramvilas Yadav (Bhr) and Suresh Kumar (SSCB) (Jt 3).

66 kg: Vikram Singh (SSCB) 1, Satish (Har) 2, Anil Kumar (NCR) and Sandeep (Mah) (Jt 3).

84 kg: Manoj Kumar (SSCB) 1, Rinku (Har) 2, Rajesh Yadav (DSAWA) and Neeraj (Pnb) (Jt 3).
