New Delhi, May 30 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today issued notices to the Centre, TRAI and CPCB on a PIL seeking direction for framing guidelines to check electro-magnetic radiation by the electronic gadgets installed by mobile phone service providers, hospitals, airports, BPOs, Banks, Defence Ministry etc in the country.

In the petition, Advocate petitioner Jagdeep Kishore said that due to the e-pollution not confirming to the permissible limits, people in the courtry are suffering from various ailments including neuro problems, cardiac problems, blood pressure, asthma, thyroid etc.

A division bench of acting Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Kailash Gambhir asked the respondents-- Ministries of Communication, Health and Family Welfare, Defence, Civil Aviation, Science and Technology, Human Resource Development, Indian Banks Association, Delhi Government, TRAI and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to file their replies by September 6, the next date of hearing.

''Several countries have established standards limiting exposure to the e-pollution or elctromagnetic radiation, whereas India was still ignorant about its ill effects,'' said the petition.

The studies conducted by the National Foundation for Alternative Medicine of Washington and University of California, Berkley, by Prof Martin Graham said that exposure to e-pollution has given rise to higher incidence of diseases in various parts of the world.

Many countries have formulated laws to control, regulate, monitor and manage radiation levels to a permissible limit for various gadgets.

In India, the cell phone towers emit high level of radiation because they are few in numbers and do not confirm to the international standards.

The hospitals also emit Alfa-rays, Gama-rays and other nuclear radiations. The Defence installations, Bank ATMs, Call Centres and Airport towers in the country also radiate high level of e-pollutants.

The petition also sought direction to the manufacturers of the gadgets to confirm to the guidelines framed by the government by keeping the e-pollutant within the permissible limits.
