Sex scandal: Dukhtaran threatens mass agitation
Srinagar, May 30: Dukhtaran-e-Millat (Daughters of Faith) Chief Asiya Andrabi has threatened ''mass agitation'' if the high-profile people allegedly involved in the sex racket were not imprisoned till June 2, the day Jammu and Kashmir High Court hears the case.
Ms Andrabi also vowed to expose politicians, bureaucrats, police officials and others allegedly involved in the sex scandal.
The deadline also came through party posters, released here yesterday.
She sought full support from all sections of the society to launch the agitation from June 2 if the authorities failed to punish the guilty.
''Not strikes...but agitations. We will be protesting on every Friday till those involved are brought to book,'' Ms Andrabi said.
The Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chief alleged that the main accused Sabeena and 15-year-old Yasmeena, a victim, were being threatened against naming the ''real culprits so that they continue exploiting the daughters of Kashmir.'' In a clear reference to previous Mufti Mohammad Sayeed regime, she said, ''Rulers took the advantage of our ignorance in 2004 when they shielded ministers, bureaucrats and police officers. Should we let the rulers repeat the same?''
However, Ms Andrabi expressed ''serious doubts'' over the investigations carried out by the CBI, but asserted that the entire ''nation has trust'' in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, which is hearing the case.
