Donkey, new tool of anti-reservation brigade
Varanasi, May 30 (UNI) The anti-reservationists in this ancient city today found in the donkey, a new tool to register protest against the UPA government move for 27 per cent OBC quota in higher education.
The medicos at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), spearheading the movement, this evening took out a mock funeral procession of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh the backs of donkeys.
Raising anti-UPA slogans, the agitationists demanded that the Centre revert its ''foolhardy'' policy of reservation.
In an identical protest, activists of the Creation India Society, (CIS) alongwith members of other voluntary organisations, also took out on donkey-backs the mock funeral procession of Dr Singh and the HRD minister from Madhopur to Sigra.
''The donkey best visualises the foolish UPA government, which for the sake of votes is hell bent at destroying talent through caste-based reservations,'' CIS chairman Satya Prakash said.
