Sensex up 79 pts at 10,888 in mid-day trade
Mumbai, May 29: After opening in the green, the BSE Sensitive Index (Sensex) was trading 79 points up at 10,888.40 from the previous close, at 1300 hrs.
Earlier, in the morning session, the Sensex opened at 10,855 points and touched a high of 10,992 points in the intra-morning trading.
Boosted by the performance of mutual funds and the top net worth companies, the Sensex appears that it will lose its volatility soon, a market expert said.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) S&P CNX Nifty index also opened in green and was trading at 3,213, up by four points, at 1315 hrs.
All the sectoral indices on the Nifty were in green. CNX IT was trading at 3,977 points, up 1.80 per cent or 70.30 points, Similarly, CNX-500 was trading at 2,726.45 points, which was up by 10.87 per cent or 267.25 points and CNX Midcap 200 was trading flat at 3239.15, with no changes.
The top gainers on the benchmark BSE-30 Sensex - were HDFC Bank, up 3.57 per cent; Satyam Computers, up 2.66 per cent; L&T, up 2.60 per cent; Hindalco, up by 2.08 per cent; Hero Honda Motors, up by 2.24 per cent; TISCO, up by 1.75 per cent, and Tata Power was up by 1.51 per cent.
Among the top losers on the Sensex were - Bharti Tele, ITC, Bajaj Auto, NTPC, TCS and Grasim, all down between 0.5 to 1.5 per cent.
