Reservation rage: Medical services hit in MP
Bhopal, May 29 (UNI) Services remained affected at hospitals affiliated to Madhya Pradesh's medical colleges as a junior doctors' strike, against 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher-education institutions, continued unabated today.
''As part of the agitation, four physicians of Hamidia Hospital -- the state capital's largest such government facility -- are fasting unto death. All junior docs, in every medical college in the state, are on strike,'' said Madhya Pradesh Junior Doctors' Association spokesman Amit Tyagi.
A signature campaign was launched today under which junior medicos would go from door to door. A 'maharally' is scheduled here on May 31 and would witness participation by doctors of private and Ayurvedic hospitals along with engineering college students.
On the other hand, Hamidia College Dean Nirbhay Srivastava claimed that services were unhindered at the hospital even as reports spoke of junior physicians being on strike at Jabalpur, Indore, Gwalior and Rewa.
