Ravi Shastri comes in defence of Greg Chappell
Patna, May 29 (UNI) Former cricket player Ravi Shastri today came in defence of Indian cricket team coach Greg Chappell and said it would be ''unfair'' to criticise him for performance of the team at this stage.
Shastri, who was in the state capital for the pulse polio campaign, told newspersons here that Chappell should be judged only after completion of one year of his present assignment. He said the coach could not be judged for every match or series and hence one should pass judgement on his performance only after passage of the sufficient time.
''If the balance sheet of 'wins and losses' was not in his favour after completion of one year of his assignment, one was free to criticise him,'' he remarked.
The former test cricket player said that pulse polio drive should be persued more vigorously for eradicating the polio completely in the state. Bihar has 12 polio cases at present.
