Petrol price hike should not hurt people:Cong

New Delhi, May 29: The Congress today urged the Government to take into account the difficulties to be caused to the people before taking any decision on hiking prices of petrol.

Reacting to the media reports about the likely increase in the price of petrol, Congress Spokesman Rajeev Shukla said that although the price of petrol in the international market was shooting up and the oil companies in India were incurring losses,the Government must look to the interests of the consumers before effecting any increase.

''The Government should take care to see that any price hike in petrol did not lead to price rise in other commodities,'' said mediapersons here.
