People agitate as water supply disrupted in Ajmer district

Ajmer, May 29 (UNI) People here blocked the roads to protest the erratic water supply over the past few days, due to frequent breakdowns in the pipelines of Bisalpur project -- the main source of drinking water for the district.

The pipelines broke down thrice in the past few days, causing immense difficulties for the people, who are already suffering the searing heat.

On May 14, the pipeline between Nasirabad and Makhupura broke, next was the Nasirabad Loharvada pipeline, which gave way on May 24 and yesterday, it was the turn of the line between Thadoli and Kekri.

Water is only available after intervals of 96 to 120 hours.

Divisional Commissioner Deepak Upreti said the frequent breakage of Bisalpur pipeline would be investigated.

Meanwhile, the water supply department is providing water to the various areas through tankers.
