One kidnapped, two other Pakistani nationals killed in Iraq
Islamabad, May 29 (UNI) Even as diplomatic efforts are on to rescue the abducted Pakistani national in Iraq, two others died in a mortar attack in a US military camp in the war-torn region.
Pakistan is in touch with the embassies in Kuwait and Jordan to trace its national, who was kidnapped in Iraq last week.
''The government has also approached the Iraqi embassy officials in Pakistan to get the details on kidnapping of Pakistani national and remains in touch with them,'' foreign ministry spokesman Sohail Mehmood said here.
He said, ''We are making efforts to ascertain the facts regarding kidnapping of Shafiq from Faluja in Iraq''.
''The government of Pakistan will utilise all diplomatic means to trace the Pakistani,'' the Spokesman said.
In a separate incident, two Pakistanis, Nasar Iqbal Mattu and Muneer Ahmad, died after their living quarters in a US military camp in Baghdad reportedly came under a mortar attack on May 22.
They were employed with a company, M/s IPBD, and were working at the camp as labourer and electrician, respectively. Both succumbed to multiple injuries sustained by them in the attack.
Their bodies are being transferred from Kuwait to Lahore via Kuwait Airlines today.
The government has also advised Pakistanis not to travel to Iraq due to security concerns.
