Karnataka Men, Women, Kerala Women enter finals

Bangalore, May 29 (UNI) Men and Women teams of hosts Karnataka, and Kerala Women entered the finals of the Youth National Volleyball Championship here today.

In a rain-marred match, Karnataka men stormed into finals defeating Haryana 25-20, 25-18, 25-17. Captain Ganesh Rai, Dharnish Kumar displayed superb skill in smashing, while Hemanth and Mahesh were good at blocking for the winners. For Haryana Captain Gurinder Singh was good at returning but due to lack of understanding the team failed to maintain the tempo.

In the women's section, Kerala trounced West Bengal 25-14,25-16,25-12 to clash for title with Karnataka who defeated Tamil Nadu 25-20, 25-27, 23-25, 25-23.

Joe Mol, Dhanya and Nazeema were good at smashing for Kerala, Sema Saha was good at returning for West Bengal.

In another keenly contested match, Karnataka Women had to struggle as Tamil Nadu put up brave fight. Captain Ramya, Libro Preethika Suverna and Swetha were very good in return and smashing for the winners, while for Tamil Nadu Captain P Poovizhi, Jansi Rani played well in both receiving and service.
