Jaya elected leader of AIADMK Legislature Party

Chennai, May 29 (UNI) Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa was today elected as the leader of the AIADMK Legislature Party, paving way to become the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

Ms Jayalalithaa, who was unanimously elected as leader of the legislature party at a meeting of AIADMK MLAs held at the party headquarters here, replaced her senior colleague O Panneerselvam, who was elected as Deputy leader of the Legislature Party.

While the present Deputy Leader of the Opposition K A Sengottiyan will be the party's new whip, Mr D Jayakumar, who held the post of party whip is the Treasurer and Mr S Karuppasamy and Mr C Ve Shanmugam Secretaries.
