No talk of moving its atomic work abroad: Iran
Tehran, May 29: Iran said today there had been no mention of Tehran surrendering its disputed uranium enrichment programme in talks with Igor Ivanov, Secretary of Russia's Security Council.
Government Spokesman Gholamhossein Elham also told a news conference Iran would never relocate its nuclear fuel cycle to Russia to allay the international community's fears that Tehran could be building an atomic bomb.
''There is no discussion about plans to give up enrichment on our soil and it is a wrong argument that the enrichment should be done in Russia. And the enrichment in Iran ... will continue,'' he said.
Ivanov held inconclusive talks in Tehran yesterday with senior Iranian officials involved in the nuclear issue.
''The general approach is that Iran's case should remain in the (International Atomic Energy) Agency and if it does so all international and legal supervisions will continue and that is in everyone's favour,'' he added.
Iran's case has been referred to the UN Security Council for possible sanctions over its atomic work. Tehran says it is building a nuclear programme that will produce electricity, not bombs.
Tehran has stopped allowing snap UN checks of its atomic facilities.
