India not sending any messages to LTTE
New Delhi, May 29 (UNI) India has conveyed to Norwegian Minister for International Development and chief negotiator for Sri Lankan peace process Erik Sosheim, its well-known view of a peaceful, negotiated settlement which is acceptable to all sections of Sri Lankan society.
"For several years, we have been sharing our assessments with the Norwegians about the developments in Sri Lanka and the peace process.
This does not amount to sending any message to the LTTE or any other party", an External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said.
He was responding to a query on whether Norway has been passing messages from India to the LTTE that they should return to the peace process.
On whether India would attend the Co-Chairs meeting scheduled to take place in Tokyo on May 30, he said, as in the past, a represenatative of the Indian Embassy in Tokyo will receive a breifing after the talks.
Mr Solheim was in Delhi on May 27 and during his visit, he met National Security Advisor M K Narayanan and other officials. His visit was part of the traditional briefing by Norway to the government of India about the delicately-poised peace process in Sri Lanka.
