Ganga recalled in 14-member squad for first Test against India

Port of Spain, May 29 (UNI) West Indies reposed faith in most of the members of its successful ODI team and added opener Daren Ganga as they named a 14-member squad for the first Test match against India at the Antigua Recreation Ground starting Friday.

Ganga, the 27-year-old batsman, will be making a comeback to the side since touring New Zealand earlier this year.

Left-arm spinner Dave Mohammed, who claimed three wickets in the final one dayer against India yesterday, also earned a call-up.

The selectors, however, dropped Dwayne Smith and Sewnarine Chattergoon from the squad.

Denesh Ramdin will be donning the gloves behind the stumps in the Test match as Carlton Baugh failed to impress the selectors.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who missed the last two one dayers owing to a hamstring strain is also in the squad as is Runako Morton, who did not play the last two ODIs.

Squad: Brian Lara (captain), Christopher Gayle, Daren Ganga, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Marlon Samuels, Runako Morton, Dwayne Bravo, Denesh Ramdin, Ian Bradshaw, Jerome Taylor, Corey Collymore, Fidel Edwards, Dave Mohammed.
