Deepali 26th in 50m rifle 3 position, Sanjeev 42nd in men's event
New Delhi, May 29 (UNI) Olympian shooter Deepali Deshpande could not make her mark in the women's 50m Rifle 3 Position and finished 26th while Commonwealth Games Bronze medallist Sanjeev Rajput stood a poor 42nd in the men's section of the same event at the ISSF World Cup in Munich, Germany.
In the women's event, Deepali shot 577 -- 197 (98,99) in Prone, 188 (95,93) in Standing and 192 (97,95) in Kneeling.
Ace shooter Anjali Bhagwat, who won a Olympic quota place at the World Cup Resende, finished further behind at 31st with a score of 575. She scored 194 (96,98) in Prone, 192 (96,96) in Standing and 182 (94,95) in Kneeling.
Fellow Indian Kuheli Gangulee finished 54th with a score of 570 -- 196 (97,99) in Prone, 184 (92,92) in Standing and 190 (97,93) in Standing.
The Gold in this event was won by Sonja Pfeilschifter of Germany with a score of 698 (594+104) who also made a World Record of 594 in the process.
She started with a perfect 10.9 as her first final shot and the six-time World Cup Gold medal winner continuously shot in the higher 10s throughout the final to establish a New Final World Record of 698.
Silver was won by Barbara Lechner also of Germany with a score of 688.9 (589+99.9) while Athens Olympic Gold medallist Lioubov Galkina of Russia won the Bronze and the Olympic Quota place with a score of 684.9 (584+100.9).
The World Cup series for Rifle and Pistol will continue in Milan, Italy from today till June 5, according to information received here today.
Meanwhile, in the men section, Sanjeev Rajput shot 1148 -- 392 (97,97,99,99) in Prone, 377 (94,94,95,94) in Standing and 379 (91,95,96,97) in Kneeling.
Imran Hasan Khan finished 69th with a score of 1128. His Prone score read 386 (98,96,97,95), Standing tally was 370 (94,94,91,91) and Kneeling total was 372 (93,92,90,97).
The Gold was won by Sergei Kovalenko of Russia with a score of 1269.9 (1172+97.9), Silver was won by Yaojun Yuan of China with a score of 1267.5 (1169+98.5) while Sydney Olympics Gold medallist Rajmond Debevec of Slovenia won the Bronze and the Olympic quota place with a score of 1267.1 (1170+97.1).
Ace shooter Gagan Narang, who had finished fourth in the 10m Air Rifle event earlier, shot a score of 1144 with a series of Prone 390 (95,98,97,100), Standing 382 (94,97,96,95) and Kneeling 372 (94,93,93,92) in the elimination but could not make it to the qualification round in this event.
In the Minimum Qualification Score section, Surendra Singh Rathod shot a score of 1133 with a series of Prone 387 (97,99,97,94), Standing 364 (94,90,89,91) and Kneeling 382 (99,96,94,93).
