Delhi CM leaves for Moscow to open 3-day show
New Delhi, May 29: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit along with seven member official delegation left for Moscow early this morning to participate in 'Days of Delhi', a cultural event.
Later today, Ms Dikshit along with Mayor of Moscow would inaugurate the show that would continue till May 31. It is being organised in Moscow as per the protocol signed between the Moscow Administration and Delhi government.
The inaugural cultural programme would have performances by legendary Indian Classical singer Kumar Gandharva's daughter Kalapini Komkali and Sarod Maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.
Before this gala ceremony, an Indian apparel show 'Shakti' would representing Indian ethnic and contemporary fashion by internationally acclaimed fashion designer Payal Jain will be presented.
Garba, Raibans, Bihu, Terehtali Hoodo, Rampaa, Borodance, Purulia Chhau, Raas Garba, Kalbelia&Dandia dance troupes will perform on May 30 to showcase the best of Indian traditional folk music and dance.
Two shows of Indian films 'Parineeta' and 'Chokher Bali' would be held on May 30 and 31 May.
Javed Akhtar, Dr Kailash Vajpai, Dr Alok Rai, Mr Upamanyu Chatterjee and Shabana Azmi will participate in a literary meet on May 31. Shabana Azmi will also recite Kaifi Azmi's poetry.
Apart from this an extravaganza of contemporary dance and music performances by Asad Deboo, Aditi Mangaldas and Indian rock band Euphoria to also scheduled to be played on May 31.
Ms Dikshit was accompanied, among others, by Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely, Delhi Travel and Transport Development Corp CMD, Secretary (Art&Culture) and Delhi State Industrial Development Corp MD.
