City court grants bail to cook of underworld Don Anees
New Delhi, May 29 (UNI) A city court today granted bail to Jabrail Khan, Don Anees's cook, who was arrested by Delhi police on April 11 in connection with cheating, forgery as well as offences related to the Passport Act.
Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Ravinder Kaur granted bail to Khan after furnishing a bail bond of Rs 50,000 and a like amount of security. The court ordered him to ''co-operate with the investigation.'' The counsel for the accused, Asghar Khan and Irfan S Kalia while seeking bail argued that sufficient time was given to the investigating officer for interrogation, and there was no point in keeping him in custody again. They also argued that, no offence was made against him in India and sought bail on this ground.
Khan was arrested by the Delhi Police from IGI airport on April 11, after he arrived here from Karachi while allegedly travelling with forged stamps on the passport.
He told the interrogators that the global terrorist and mastermind of the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, Dawood Ibrahim, used to visit his brother Anees in Karachi.
He came back to India after Anees had sacked him due to medical reasons, the sources said.
Khan, a native of Bahriach in Uttar Pradesh, was residing in Karachi for several years and was employed by Anees.
He was arrested under sections 420 (Cheating), 468 (Forgery for the purpose of Cheating), 471 (Using Forged documents as Genuine) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 12 of the Passport Act.
