BJP for constituting committee for redressal to sealing victims
New Delhi, May 29 (UNI) The BJP today demanded that the Centre immediately constitute a high powered committee to provide redressal to victims of the sealing and demolition drive.
In a statement here, the BJP Delhi Pradesh President Harsh Vardhan demanded that the Central Government should immediately constitute a high power committee which could, after listening to the case of the sufferers of sealing and demolition drive, recommend sufficient compensation within 90 days to them.
''This compensation should be paid by the Central and Delhi Government together within 30 days to all the affected persons so that these displaced persons may be able to build their houses and get opportunity to earn their livelihood,''the statement said.
Dr Harshvardhan added that the problems of the people of Delhi would not be solved only by enforcing the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Act 2006.
Dr Harsh Vardhan said that by enforcing the Delhi Laws (Special Provision) Act 2006 the Government has temporarily stopped all the additional and illegal constructions and sealing drive but this law does not provide any relief to those thousands of people whose property were demolished by the MCD during the last six months.
''The Congress which is trying to get the applause by imposing moratorium on the sealing and demolitions for a year, is misleading the people. The Government has not informed the people of Delhi whether it is going to provide permanent relief to all the illegal constructors of Delhi.
Alleging that the people connected with Government agencies were recovering illegal money from the those property owners whose power and water supplies were disconnected during the sealing and demolition drive, Dr Harsh Vardhan also demanded that the power and water supply of those illegal building, shops, industrial establishment which have been disconnected should be restored on a plain application without charging any additional fee.
