AEPC plans to start training programs for physically challenged
New Delhi, May 29 (UNI) The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) soon plans to start job-oriented training programmes for physically challenged persons at its Apparel Training and Design Centres (ATDC) in various parts of the country.
These centres will help upgrade the technical skills of personnel employed in the garment industry.
The ATDCs try to develop skills at the grass root level, so that people employed in the garment manufacturing industry become conscious of the quality parameters needed for the export markets.
The basic objective of the AEPC to set up ATDCs is to uplift weaker section of society by providing them training in the field of Garment Manufacturing Technology and to provide skilled manpower to the industry in order to improve the quality of product as per international parameters.
At present 14 centres of the ATDC are functional at Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Ludhiana, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Tirupur in Coimbatore, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata, Mumbai and Indore. The 14th centre would be made functional shortly at Surat.
Other such institutes in Kanpur, Bhuvaneshwar and Tronicka city have also been approved and shall be made operational during this year.
The students trained at various centres of ATDC are readily employed by garment industry and so far over 17,000 students have passed out from various centres of ATDC.
