300 children treated by Army doctors in north Kashmir

Srinagar, May 29 (UNI) More than 300 children were among 1500 patients treated by the Army doctors at a free medical camp organised in a village in central Kashmir.

A defence spokesman said 53 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) conducted a free medical camp at Gasu village in block Qasba Nagam in central Kashmir to provide healthcare to locals of Romu, Pakharpur, Kainda Jan, Meer Kund and Toshe Kalan villages.

He said the medical camp was a combined effort of the Army and civil medical authorities. During the camp, more than 1500 patients, including 300 children, were provided free medical and healthcare by a team of civil and Army doctors, the spokesman added.

He said imparting of health education regarding family welfare aids, other general diseases and cold injuries were the other highlights of the camp.

The spokesman said the Army has been in the forefront in providing quality medical and veterinary care in the Kashmir valley during 17 years of turmoil.

''Thirteen mobile medical teams comprising local doctors and paramedics are always on the move to provide quality medical care to the people at their doorsteps in far-flung areas,'' he added.

He said more than 100 medical centres, six field hospitals, one general hospital and one Base hospital were providing routine out-door patient care to thousands of people all over the Valley on daily basis and indoor patient care in emergency cases.
