1384 units set up in J

Srinagar, May 29: About 18,000 people have been provided employment and 1384 units set up in rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir under the Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP).

The REGP is being implemented through Jammu and Kashmir Khadi Village Industry Board.

The centrally-sponsored programme was aimed at employment generation in rural areas by providing both financial and technical assistance, an official statement said.

Efforts were on to seek the targets under different group of industries and social categories for generation of more employments during the next year, it added.
