TRS lashes out at Babu for his ''anti-Telangana'' stance
New Delhi, May 28 (UNI) Telangana Rashtra Samiti Chief and Union Labour Minister K Chandrashekhara Rao today slammed Telugu Desam Chief N Chandrababu Naidu for adopting ''anti-Telangana'' stance and asked TDP cadres to join his party ranks to make Telangana dream a reality.
Talking to newspersons Mr Rao took exception to TDP Mahanadu resolution, stating it would press for amendment of Constitution providing for any further fragmentation of states. This was against the spirit of the federalism and the TRS would fight this tendency.
He said the people would show the TDP its place in the forthcoming local body elections in Telangana region for their attitude and added the ruling party had been reduced to less than 10 per cent votes in the last 2004 general elections when it could win one Assembly and one Lok Sabha seats.
Mr Rao said the TRS had constituted a six-member Committee under the leadership of his Cabinet colleague and Minister of State for Rural Development A Narendra to look into the issue of reaching political understanding in the coming elections. Mr Vinay Kumar, MP, Mr Vijaya Rama Rao, Dr Chandrashekhar, TRS MLAs-- Mr Madhusoodanachari and Mr K Yadagiri Reddy TRS General Secretaries-- would be the other two members. Mr Narendra will be leaving for Hyderabad tomorrow to consult party leaders.
Regarding his recent meeting with Congress President Sonia Gandhi, he said, it was a routine meeting as he was in the process of meeting all UPA leaders including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar and RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Asked about Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajashekhara Reddy's statements on Telangana, Mr Rao said, he was personally for united Andhra Pradesh but had left the issue to the Congress Chief for a final decision. "We should have no problems", he added.
