Trinidad

GRAZ, Austria, May 27: Trinidad&Tobago suffered a 2-1 defeat by an experimental Wales side in a World Cup warm-up in Austria today.

The smallest country of the 32 at next month's finals in Germany, Trinidad took the lead just past the half hour mark when Stern John stabbed in a close-range volley.

The Caribbean nation had looked the better side but were pegged back six minutes later when Robert Earnshaw equalised for Wales after pouncing on a James Collins knockdown inside the area.

John, who like many of Trinidad's players makes his living in England's lower leagues, had chances to restore their lead before Earnshaw struck late on with a low shot to win it for the Welsh.

Trinidad, coached by Dutchman Leo Beenhakker, are in Group B at the World Cup and begin their campaign against Sweden in Dortmund on June 10 before facing England on June 15 and Paraguay on June 20.
