Revenue Minister announces Rs 15,000 compensation

Alappuzha, May 28 (UNI) Kerala Revenue Minister K P Rajendran visited the coastal areas of the state inundated by the sea following the incessant rains during the past 48 hours and announced compensation, of Rs 15,000 for the people who had suffered heavy losses.

Mr Rajendran visited the affected areas in Ambalapuzha, Arattupuzha and Andhakaranazhi areas this evening, where 37 houses had collapsed completely while 243 had suffered partial damage.

Meanwhile, the district authorities have opened two relief camps here for people affected by sea erosion or house collapses. However, till this evening no one was shifted to the camps.
