Police resort to teargas shells in Gomtipur area in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad, May 28 (UNI) Police resorted to teargas shells in labour dominated Gomtipur area of the city to pacify two groups of different communities indulging in stone-pelting this morning.
At least 30 teargas shells were lobbed by the police to control the two groups of different communities which were indulging in stone-pelting over a small cause.
Police said the trouble started near a religious place in the area when a scooter hit a person of another community which led to small verbal duel which soon resulted in a riot.
However, the police forces were immediately deployed in the area and situation was brought under control. Police patrolling has also been intensified in the area.
Police have so far apprehended about12 persons from the area and were likely to nab few more people as a precautionary measure.
Police have registered a case of rioting and further investigations are on.
