Police claims to have solved UTI Bank robbery case
New Delhi, May 28 (UNI) Police have arrested the main accused in the UTI Bank robbery case in West Delhi's Tilak Nagar area.
Sandeep Bhatnagar (32) was arrested yesterday for allegedly robbing the Vikas Puri Branch of the bank of Rs 40 lakh, while masquerading as a human bomb on May 8.
Two wanted criminals from Ferozabad UP are also involved in the crime, police said.
Police said during interrogation the accused had confessed to the crime along with two other people.
Sandeep, a graduate from ARSD college and a Visa and Immigration Consultant, had fled to Bangkok after the incident and returned on May 26.
According to the police he was ''inspired'' to commit the crime after reading a novel ''Zamir ka Qaidi''.
Police recovered Rs 10 lakh, 600 US dollars, the car used in the crime and wires and batteries used to intimidate people and his passport .
Further investigations are on.
