Pawar inaugurates National Kho-Kho meet
Mumbai, May 28 (UNI) Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today inaugurated the 42nd Senior National Kho-Kho Championship for men and women and Rani Jhasi Zonal women's cricket tournament at Boisar and Chinchani villages respectively in Dahanu taluka of Thane district.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Mr Pawar emphasised the need to support talent from smaller towns, saying new talent are likely to emerge on the national level from such places.
Talking about cricket, Mr Pawar said the game should be encouraged in rural parts as well. He said local players will receive a boost following the hosting of the kho-kho meet in Boisar and women's cricket tourney in Chinchani.
As many as 66 teams are participating in the kho-kho championship from 34 states as also a Railway's team.
