Notice to authorities for removal of slums from near monument
New Delhi, May 28 (UNI) The Delhi High Court has issued notices to the Delhi Government, ASI and others on a PIL seeking removal of slums from the area near the protected monument Khan-i-Khana tomb in Jangpura in Central Delhi.
A division bench headed by acting Chief Justice Vijender Jain issued notices to the respondents to file a reply to the allegations by the residents of the area.
Notices had also been served to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Development Authority(DDA) and Commissioner of Delhi Police.
The Jangpura Resident Association alleged that hundreds of people including Bangladeshi illegal migrants had encroached on the land on the banks of a drain, said the petition filed by its president Manu Chaddha.
They were carrying out illegal trade in plastic waste which is inflamable and a threat to the ecology, said Counsel R K Saini in the petition.
The petition has sought direction to the authorities to remove the slum clusters to protect the monument from further damage and restore the area as a green patch.
