Mangalore records very heavy rainfall of 22 cm

Bangalore, May 28 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the Weather Office here at 0830hrs today.

Southwest Monsoon has further advanced over entire Coastal Karnataka, remaining parts of South Interior Karnataka and some parts of North Interior Karnataka. Conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over remaining parts of North Interior Karnataka during next two days.

Monsoon was vigorous over Coastal Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at many places over Interior Karnataka.

Very heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Mangalore 22, Kundapur 21, Mudibidre 14, Panambur 13.

Heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Mangalore AP 12, Shirali 11, Gerusoppa, Ranebennur 10, Madikeri 10 each, Honavar 8.

Other chief rainfall amounts (cm); Udupi, Belgaum AP 5 each, Chikkanahalli 4, Kollur Hubli 3 each.

Maximum temperatures fell at a few places over Interior Karnataka They were appreciably below normal at most places being markedly so at a few places over North Interior Karnataka and appreciably below normal at a few places over South Interior Karnataka.

Chikkanahalli recorded highest maximum temperature of 36.2 degree celsius over the State.

Forecast valid until Tuesday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at many places over Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Moderate to heavy rain may occur at most places in all the districts of Coastal Karnataka, at many places over Belgaum, Dharwad, Haveri, Bidar, Gulbarga, Raichur districts of North Interior Karnataka and Kodagu, Shimoga, Chikmagalur, Hassan, Mysore, Chamarajnagara, Mandya, Bellary, Davanagere, Chitradurga districts of South Interior Karnataka.

Scattered heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur in all the districts of Coastal Karnataka during next 48 hours. Isolated heavy rain is also likely to occur over Ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka and Belgaum, Bellary, Raichur, Gulbarga districts during the same period. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at a few places over the remaining districts of Interior Karnataka.

Heavy rainfall warning: Scattered heavy rain with isolated very heavy falls likely to occur over Coastal Karnataka during next 48 hours. Isolated heavy rain likely to occur over the Ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka and Bellary, Belgaum, Raichur, Gulbarga districts during the same period.

Forecast for Bangalore city: Generally cloudy with one or two spells of light rain. Maximum temperature would be around 29 degree celsius UNI RKN1728
