Kumble aiming to break 35-year-old Carribean Test jinx

Kingston, May 28 (UNI) Asserting that the coming Test series will be a different ball game altogether, champion leg-spinner Anil Kumble said he would be aiming to break India's 35-year-old losing streak in the Carribean, after arriving here for his third trip.

''It's going to be different. Five of us joined today, so with a bit of experience and a bit of youth, it's going to be a good series,'' Kumble said after arriving here with Wasim Jaffer, VVS Laxman, Dinesh Karthik, and VRV Singh.

Disappointed with the ODI series loss, Kumble said he knew West Indies would be a tough nut to crack at home but added that Team India would put up an improved show in the Test series.

''West Indies are always a tough side at home, and the last couple of series we played here, we went pretty close, but lost out narrowly, so we're looking forward to this series,'' he said.

''I am really looking forward to it. Last time around I had to leave early, so I am looking forward to the Test series,'' he added, referring to the 2001 series when he had to return midway after being hit by a Mervyn Dillon bouncer which broke his jaw-line.

Kumble said though the services of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar would be missed but his absence would not make the Indian team a lesser force.

''We still have a pretty good batting line-up and good balanced bowling attack, so we are looking forward to the Test series,'' Kumble said.

''Playing for 16 years and with this being my third trip, we should be able to turn things around in the Test series,'' he added.
