Haryana men, Kerala women make semifinal grade

Bangalore, May 28 (UNI) Haryana men and Kerala women stormed into the semifinals of the 10th National Youth Volleyball (U-21) Championship, here today.

In the quarterfinals, Haryana men defeated Himachal Pradesh 3-1, while Kerala eves blanked Maharashtra 3-0.

In the other quarterfinals, Tamil Nadu beat Kerala 3-0 in the men's section and West Bengal women surprised strong Andhra Pradesh outfit 3-1.

Hosts Karnataka too made it to the last four in both men's and women's categories.

Following are the results (quarterfinals): Men: Karnataka bt Orissa 3-1 (25-23, 31-33, 25-11, 25-17); Haryana bt Himachal Pradesh 3-1 (25-17, 25-27, 25-14, 25-19); Tamil Nadu bt Kerala 3-0 (28-26, 25-18, 25-18).

Women: Karnataka bt Chattisgarh 3-0 (25-14, 25-8, 25-7); Kerala bt Maharashtra 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-14); West Bengal bt Andhra Pradesh 3-1 (21-25, 25-9, 25-17, 25-17).
