Chowrasia tied 12th, Indians disappoint at Philippine Open

Manila, May 28 (UNI) SSP Chowrasia turned out to be the best among the rest of the Indians in the fray and despite carding a one-over 73 in the final round finished a creditable tied 12th at the 90th Philippine Open golf tournament here today.

Chowrasia signed off with a four-day total of two-over 290 and found himself 14 places above the next Indian in the list Uttam Singh Mundy (294), who had a poor four-over 76 final round and slipped to the tied 26th spot at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club's East course.

Gurbaaz Mann (295), who was tied 16th after yesterday's third round, was a shot behind after he ran out of form today and hit four bogeys and one double bogey to slump to tied 31st on the leaderboard.

A struggling Mann carded a five-over 77 in the final round to slip down. Mann was followed by Meerut-based Digvijay Singh (295) at the tied 56th, who was also over-par with a four-over 76. Digvijay dropped five shots and managed only one birdie in last round.

Harmeet Kahlon (301) was the last among the Indians at the tied 62nd spot with a six-over 78.

At the top of the table, Australian Scott Strange took the honours with an incredible eight-under 280 total after carding a two-under 70 in the final round. Korean rookie Park Jun-won (285) made the biggest stride of the day jumping from the tied 16th spot to finish second with a sizzling five-under 67.
