BJP protest against cow slaughter in Ghaziabad tomorrow

New Delhi, May 28 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Keshari Nath Tripathi will lead a protest rally in front of Ghaziabad District Magistrate's office tomorrow demanding a high-level probe into the reported slaughter of 184 cows from Rajasthan and the disappearance of four Rajasthani cowherds.

BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the UP administration, instead of arresting the culprits who have support of powerful people, was putting in jail those raising voice against the slaughter of cattle.

The animals were last seen grazing in the fields of Rajasthan on May 12; they were killed the same day and four cowherds went missing, he said.

The party suspected the hand of a Muslim state minister whose associates were in the business of cattle slaughter and meat products, Mr Javadekar said, adding there were complaints to this effect, but no action was forthcoming even after a fortnight.

On May 24, the local Go Raksha Samiti members organised a peaceful demonstration, but they were lathicharged by police and 72 people including, state vice president Ramesh Chandra Tomar, MLA Narendra Sisodia and former MLA Ramnaresh Rawat were arrested.

Mr Javadekar alleged that Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI was behind such killings for stoking communal violence and hence the need for a high-level probe into such incidents.
