BCCI to introduce D/L system, scrap super-sub in domestic circuit

New Delhi, May 28 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to introduce the Duckworth and Lewis system and scrap the internationally dumped super-sub rule in the coming domestic season.

The board's Technical Committee met yesteday in Bangalore under the chairmanship of Sunil Gavaskar and recommended the introduction of D/L system for deciding one-day matches in the coming season, replacing the earlier used VJD system for rain-interrupted matches.

The committee also recommended dropping of the super-sub rule, citing its deletion from the ICC rules.

''It is recommended to remove the Super Sub player rule from our Domestic Tournament as it has been deleted from ICC rules,'' a BCCI release said.

The meeting, which was also attended by board secretary Niranjan Shah and chief selector Kiran More, called for the introduction of the Power Play rule in the domestic limited overs matches.

''The Power Play/fielding restrictions are recommended to be introduced in our Domestic Tournament from the cricketing season 2006-07,'' the release added.

Another recommendation made by the committee was for the introduction of coloured clothing and white ball for the Ranji and Deodhar Trophy one-day matches.

To improve the standard of the pitches in the country, the committee suggested the introduction of the ICC format pitch and outfield monitering system.
