Another Muslim political party formed in UP
Lucknow, May 28 (UNI) With assembly elections due in Uttar Pradesh next year, a new Muslim political outfit -- the Muslim Political Council -- was today formed with Dr MA Siddique as its president.
Addressing a press conference here, Dr Siddique said the new organisation will only concentrate on development and create awareness among the community on the people of vote bank politics.
''The Muslims are being used as a tissue paper and no political party has done anything for the community,'' he alleged.
''We have to fight for our rights as no political parties are interested in uplifting the status of the community,'' he added..
Cine star Shahzad Khan, son of actor Ajit, along with several other eminent personalities of the state were present at the launching of the new party.
Dr Siddique, however, said the new organisation would have no links with any political party.
This would be the second major political outfit to be formed by Muslim leaders of the state. Recently Shia cleric Kalbe Jawwad and the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Ahmed Bukhari had floated Peoples Democratic Front.
